right so a little while ago i found out that with the closing of dijon on west row there was a restaurant called "Rej" opening at the old site. i found it open just the other week and dropped in for a coffee. now its important to know that i didn't eat and i only stayed for a quick visit. i will not be doing a review however i just found the place to be a little odd. so i am putting it out there if you have been there or are willing to be a guinea pig and you think it is up to scratch after giving it a go i will try it out for the moment my overwhelming first impressiojn is that they may need to close again for a couple of days to do something about the refit which seems inadequate at best. i know i sound a bit shallow but my instincts are usually spot on. so lets get back to a restaurant that has it all going on click here for a review of the green herring.

First thing, it's mid-June and the restaurant was freezing, as if they had no heating at all. Really, we had to keep our coats on. When I got home, my feet were freezing.
First thing they served was garlic bread which was basically toast dripping in butter. No discernable garlic taste. The entree, after about an hour's wait, was one spring roll and one "prawn wrap" each. The spring rolls had no flavour, basically filled with cabbage. The prawn wrap was a prawn wrapped in the same pastry as the spring roll casing, and deep fried. The dipping sauce was sweet chilli sauce from a bottle.
The restaurant was full for this function, and they insisted on getting our orders a couple of days before. Despite this, the kitchen couldn't cope at all. We arrived at 7:30 but didn't get our mains until 9:30.
I ordered the vegetarian risotto. The menu mentioned "seasonal vegetables and a napolitana sauce". This was not a risotto, just cooked rice with a very little tomato paste, some onion and some carrot stirred through, and a few bits of broccoli. I could do better for about $2 each in the time it takes to cook the rice, and I'm not a good cook. When my wife saw my "risotto" she declined hers and went without. The others at our table had salmon, which appeared to be frozen from how limply it sat on the plate.
We left before dessert, but could see what they were preparing, which was plates of pavlova (bought from somewhere else) and sliced melon.
I think it's a disgrace that people serve up crappy food like this in a restaurant and have the audacity to charge good money for it. All I can think is that they are going out of business and are desperately doing everything they can to scrape up some money. Turning off the heating, doing the cheapest they can of everything. It's an insult to diners. The sooner this place goes out of business the better. Don't go there. They owe me $70.
